In 1999, Abel returned to his birth country of Bolivia for the first time since he was separated from his family 28 years after his accident. Abel was able to visit the small village of Rio Grande where he was born. He reunited with his mother, father and siblings. He touched the sugar cane press that crushed his arms. He visited the hospitals where he lived for six years of his young life. The following pictures are images of a memorable trip.
